Getting Started

  • Choose a passage using the reference box or Navigate.
  • Press Space to start or pause (or tap when using the mobile version).
  • Adjust speed using + / – or arrow keys (or settings when using the mobile version).
  • Use R to restart the current passage.
  • Use verse controls to move forward or backward.
  • Your current reading position saves automatically in your browser.

Adjusting Reading Speed

  • WPM (Words Per Minute) in settings controls your base speed.
  • Start slower than you think — 250–300 WPM is a good baseline.
  • Increase gradually as comprehension feels stable.
  • If meaning starts slipping, slow down.

Faster is not better. Clear understanding is better.

Chunk Size

  • 1 word — Maximum focus and precision.
  • 2–3 words — More natural phrase flow.

If you're new to RSVP, begin with 1 word.

Timing & Natural Rhythm

RapidBible adjusts timing to preserve reading rhythm:

  • Long Word Pause — Extra time for longer words.
  • Punctuation Pause — Slight pauses at commas and periods.
  • Paragraph Break Pause — Clear thought boundaries.

Increasing pauses improves comprehension. Reducing them increases speed.

Display Options

  • Dark / Light / Auto theme
  • Adjustable font size and font family
  • Red-letter mode (Jesus' words)
  • Verse numbers in display or context strip
  • Fullscreen mode
  • Keep screen awake to prevent screensaver (when available on the device)

Is this meant to replace traditional Bible study?

No. RapidBible supports reading intake. Deep study, note-taking, and reflection are still important.

What speed should I use?

Use the fastest speed where you still clearly understand what you're reading. For most people, that's between 250–400 WPM.

Is faster always better?

No. If comprehension drops, slow down. Scripture isn't a race.

Why does the pace feel uneven sometimes?

Pause settings add time for punctuation, long words, and paragraph breaks. You can adjust these in Settings.

Does this work on mobile?

Yes. RapidBible works in modern mobile browsers. A dedicated app may come later.

Why is only the WEB translation available?

RapidBible currently supports the free WEB translation. Additional translations may be added in the future.

Will my progress be saved?

Yes. Your current reading position is saved automatically in your browser on this device. It is never sent anywhere.

What data do you collect?
